Welcome back!! Love the photos. And I have to agree with Kristine Neeley, you were missed. I didn't realize how much I looked forward to getting this weekly email until my inbox was bare. But that being said, no guilt intended for your much deserved vacation.

I read BLUE SISTERS by Coco Mellors and it's a beautifully written story about four sisters and how they cope when one of the sisters passes. It has STEEL MAGNOLIAS vibes but with sisters. (FYI- The sister has already been gone for a year when the story opens.) The last part of the book hit particularly hard for me as while reading it my youngest sister was admitted for a ruptured appendix, then became septic while in the hospital with antibiotic resistant bacteria. It's a long story and is still ongoing, which is why I'm flying out to Larkspur to help take care of her 5-week-old and 3-year-old on Monday. The good news is that the docs *fingers crossed*- *prayers said*, have the right super antibiotic cocktail to help fight it. The glimmers (bright little spots that bring me joy) are that I get to hold my new nephew for the first time and see Colorado at the beginning of my favorite time of year. Especially since my sister's house is surrounded by trees. Wishing you and all the regulars on here a wonderful, glimmer-filled weekend. Hug your loved ones.

Oh my, hoping your sister starts to improve...how scary! And how great is it that you are able to help. CO in the fall has always been my favorite!

Getting to see you At Bouchercon is one of my most favorite things that has and will happen this year!! Your trip to Scotland seems amazing. Glad you had a good time. I’m finishing up the excellent arc of Dark Space by Alex Segura and Rob Hart. The I’m diving back into the ACOTAR books. I have 2 left.

Thank you, B! It's good to be home safe and sound, but I miss that crisp misty air.

Ooooh.... the new Winstead... is it good???

Thanks for sharing your pictures from Scotland! Absolutely beautiful. I loved The God of the Woods! Currently, I’m reading The Wedding People by Alison Espach. My book coach thinks it might be a good comp for my own novel.

Looks like you had a wonderful trip! My father is a quarter Scottish and my parents took a month long genealogy trip there about 20 years ago and absolutely loved it. As an armchair fan of genealogy myself, this is a bucket list trip for me!

I will be 5 weeks post op for my reconstruction surgery from my breast cancer this coming Mon. According to my surgeon and her nurse practioner I'm super tough and a super healer. The first 2 weeks were a little rough and I still have a long ways to go towards complete recovery, but I feel pretty good. Being able to start working some from home has been great for my mental health. I was going stir crazy!

I read the CRAZY RICH ASIANS trilogy including CRAZY RICH ASIANS, CHINA RICH GIRLFRIEND, and RICH PEOPLE PROBLEMS by Kevin Kwan. I thoroughly enjoyed these books and then I watched the movie...loved it!

I also read PASSIONS IN DEATH by JD Robb. I love this author and would read absolutely anything she wrote!

I also read I HOPE THIS FINDS YOU WELL by Natalie Sue. Imagine if all of the sudden at work you could see everyone's emails and other messages. Interesting premise and I liked the book but I didn't love it.

Last but not least, I just finished ON THE HUNT by Iris Johansen. I have been reading this author for 30 plus years....this book was good, but once again I didn't love it...and I had to push myself to finish it.

I live in a small town in southeast Nebraska with a population of around 7000 people. However, this weekend is our big Applejack festival and we usually get 40K plus visitors. There's a parade, the orchards are open, there are craft shows, a carnival, a car show, a fly in breakfast...I could go on and on. I will be staying at home this year unfortunately, but at least I don't have to deal with the crazy traffic...lol

I've been reading Iris Johansen since I was a kid stealing them from my mother and I felt the same way about ON THE HUNT. Glad to hear you are recovering well!!

I kind of questioned if I was being too harsh, but the writing just didn't seem as good for whatever the reason....it just didn't feel natural to me...it felt forced.

I'm still moving a little slow but I'm improved by leaps and bounds!

An apple festival! That feels so hometowny and comforting. Love it. So sorry you won't be able to go but SO happy you're recovery is going well. I am proud of you!

Kevin Kwan is a hoot - loved CRA - and the movie, too.

Ach! Scotland!! Welcome back. You were missed!

I've always wanted to be able to travel through time, so instead, I write! I was just telling a friend yesterday that it's the perfect way to "try" new places, periods, and people without having the ability to actually do that.

Missed you too! That's so true, it's time travel, social conscience, adventure, poignancy, love--all rolled into one wonderful talent. Yay for writing!
