JT. I’m glad you had a great trip and was able to get some rest. The cowgirl character sounds interesting. Take care.

I love Broadbent but she's not for everyone. Someone said her first Crowns of Nyaxia book was The Hunger Games with Vampires...and I feel that's accurate. If you can get past the violence, the world building is really good. Almost reminds me of Jennifer L Armentrout.

Maybe try starting with the second duology instead of the first duology (that you couldn't get into). THE SONGBIRD AND THE HEART OF STONE is the first book followed by THE FALLEN AND THE KISS OF DUSK. These 2 stories have main characters that were secondary characters in the first duology....so you could read them separately...if that makes sense.

OK, that sounds like a good idea. Thank you! (Also look up! I’m flying over you as we speak!)

So happy to hear you enjoyed some time off! Sedona is beautiful. I read We Are All Guilty Here by Karin Slaughter. It's a great police procedural.

I’m happy that the humidity and heat finally broke in NYC, and I was able to keep my windows open for most of the day. Im currently finishing up A Sweet Sting of Salt, by Rose Sutherland. Next up, is Out of Air, by Rachel Reiss.

Both sounds amazing! I am glad you didn’t get swept away - I heard the rains were nuts!

Scottsdale is great, but it is HOTTTTT in the summer.

During a trip to visit my in-laws, we went to the OdySea Aquarium in Scottsdale. It was 118 that day, it felt like we parked somewhere near the Mexico border, and walked across the blacktop, which just *radiated* heat back up at us. By the time we got inside, I needed a gallon of water and a nap.

Definitely recommend OdySea, but maybe not when it's godawful hot.

Currently reading: THE PARIS APARTMENT, by Lucy Foley. It's... fine? Decent? Not my favorite of hers.

Did you see that Lucy is going to be writing a new Agatha Christie novel? I can’t wait to see what she does with that…

It was a whole different level of hot. I was shocked.

Sounds like book tour has been amazing. Love that for you! This weeks reading has been slow I finished What’s Done in Darkness by the amazingly good Laura McHugh. New school year started Wednesday and it’s been crazy intense. I moved to a different school this year so it’s going to be wild for a while until I learn the kids. Not sure what I’m reading this weekend. Probably Murder Takes a Vacation by Laura Lippman.

Oh fun let me know how that is. Lippman doing a cozy - wow!

Have fun at the new school, too. I hope your kids are wonderful to teach!

Glad you got a short break but 118 degrees? Wow!

I also love everything Emily Henry and I believe several of her books will have adaptations. Can't wait!!

This week i read PERILOUS TRUST by Barbara Freethy. This is part of her FBI series and it was really good.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through THE FALLEN AND THE KISS OF DUSK by Carissa Broadbent. This is part of her Crowns of Nyaxia series and i love it. Her books are fantasy, a little dark, a little violent but oh so good. This book is also super long...over 600 pages!

Because we just haven't had enough grandkid time this summer, our 2 youngest will be here Sun and they're staying through next Fri. They wanted one more visit before school starts and how can a person say no to that?

You can’t!!! You must say yes to grandkid time. It’s the law.

Think I’d like the Broadbent? It sounds like something I’d like but I couldn’t get into the first one I tried…
