A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES is a definite win for me. I loved the books and the first season too. I hope you crank out all the words and feel all the vibes needed.
I didn't start anything new this week. My house had a partial foundation lift, and I have had tons of workers here. This has brought me a ton of relief and joy as our brand new (built in 2020) house was sinking before we bought it, which we didn't know. It's been a fight with the builder and tons of issues with the house--broken appliances due to the pressure of an uneven foundation, flooding, leaking, and so many things. I had no idea that this is a common thing here in the Dallas area. The other big joy is that we're leaving for Denver tomorrow. So excited. Also, the other reason I haven't read as much.
Oh I am SO jealous., Please wave hi to the Rockies for me, and our little town. This is the first summer in probably 20 years or more that I don't have a trip out and I miss it so much.
Yay for foundations! It's the ultimate methaphot for building a book, too : )
Good luck with the house! My best friend lived in Dallas for a couple of years and he experienced this as well. At one point, the house had settled so much the garage door wouldn't open and then it cracked the gas line. Neither one of us had ever heard of anything like this....I seriously thought he was kidding me when he was telling me about it!
Your poor friend. I wish it was one big joke. We've had sticky doors, things fall off the wall, huge cracks we can put our fingers all the way in, and so on. It felt never ending, and we still have a lot of repairs to do. Over two hundred cracks, separated wood floors, crooked outside walls, etc, but they won't start on repairs until after six months of the house settling.
I need to read Ivy’s short story! Her books are always amazing. Have you read newest Ecstasy? I need to get my hands on it. That’s the bummer about not working in the summer I have to limit my book buying a lot. It’s been a good reading week S.A. Cosby’s King of Ashes was absolutely amazing. Temporarily broke my brain kind of good. And then Rachel Howzell Hall tried to finish me off. Her newest Fog and Fury was so fun. An incredible first book in a new series. Such an ending. I need book 2 asap!
I agree on DISCOVERY OF WITCHES. The books are amazing and the TV adaptation is excellent!
I'm late to the game on 3 series on TV. I watched Nine Perfect Strangers season 1 and im halfway through season 2. I never read the book its based on but I may have to check it out. It's slightly creepy and really well done.
I also just finished season 1 of the Lioness. I really like this show.
Apparently im on a Nichole Kidman kick because she's in 2 of theses series!
I also just finished season 1 of The Bear. I lived in Chicago in the early 90s so its very nostalgic for me.
Reading this week:
BEACH READS AND DEADLY DEADS by Allison Brennan. This is different than her "normal" books. It's heavy on romance with a mystery. I liked it but it didn't seem like an Allison Brennan book to me. I applaud anyone whoever tries something different.
DREAM ON by Angie Hickman. This is a new to me author. I purchased it because it had a blurb by Abby Jimenez and I love her. I love the concept. Woman gets in a car accident and is in a coma. While in the coma she dreams of a boyfriend. When she wakes up from the coma she discovers he doesn't exist....until she runs into him months later!
We're going to have an exciting week as one set of grandkids arrives tonight and another set will be here next Wed. I probably won't get much reading done but im sure we'll have great time!
I love your grandkids visiting!!! Living vicariously through you and I hope it’s a great visit!
Kidman hasn’t made anything lately that I don’t love. She’s amazing in Lioness. Wait for season 2! Have you seen her in The Perfect couple yet? Superb! She has Scarpetta coming next too.
Loved the Bear. I’m behind on that too. They had an episode of a family holiday dinner and I was very moved and disturbed and haven’t watched season 3 yet.
I did watch The Perfect Couple and it had me guessing to the end. I heard about Scarpetta coming soon. I think Jamie Lee Curtis is in that too and I just love her.
Good luck with the words! I am almost 3/4 through Last Seen and absolutely love it!
This week’s list:
Last Seen by JT Ellison
Letters from the Dead by Isabella Valeri
Murderland: Crime and Bloodlust in the Time of Serial Killers by Caroline Fraser
Our Last Resort by Clémence Michallon
With a Vengeance by Riley Sager
I am so excited to hear that!!! Thanks, B!

Travel safe!
I'll wave and give a nod to a special golf course that I will be at on the 4th.
Now I’m crying… the house is still for sale, which is such a bummer. We could have been out there this year too. :(
Have a blast. Fireworks over the lake are the best!

I am reading, The Outlaw Noble Salt, by Amy Harmon.

Two great books for sure! I’m saving Sean’s for vacay.
I have been really reliant on netgalley and the library this year. It’s been nice having a surprise in my email after signing up for something.

Have a blast with the grandkids!! I get to see my niece and nephew (4 years old and almost 1 years old). Sooo fun.
