I’ve finished the Atlas6. It took me three weeks. It felt like this.
A few weeks ago my friend took me to a play. I didn’t understand it didn’t like the characters. Then at the end there was this beautiful scene and everything came together. I cried. Partly because of the beauty of it and partly because it was over.
Now I’m reading Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil. It is so good.
LOL that is exactly how it felt. So many disparate stories, what is really going on? then BOOM, it all comes together. Will you read the rest of the trilogy?
The island is gorgeous! I also loved Dept. Q and hope they do more seasons. I might have to look up the books. The cast was fantastic. Lots of my favorites.
If you’re a panther, you have a deep rumbly purr!
Not looking forward to the upcoming heat wave. Luckily I have lots of good reading to distract me.
This week’s list:
Anima Rising by Christopher Moore
The Blue Hour by Paula Hawkins
Last Seen by JT Ellison
Letters from the Dead by Isabella Valeri
Murderland: Crime and Bloodlust in the Time of Serial Killers by Caroline Fraser
Haven’t gotten very far into Our Last Resort yet. A certain book with generous GOODE references in it keeps stealing my attention. And this time I don’t mean Matthew.
Our Last Resort is creepy. There are cult flashbacks and then you see how those color the reactions of the main characters when a woman is murdered at the resort they are staying. I’m really enjoying it. Everything is not as it seems!
Took long enough... It's just been too distracting the past month. But finally in it. Wrote a ton yesterday. I agree, Chevy is AMAZING and I have that galley. Will bump it up.
Hope you're feeling some peace. I know these past few weeks have been hard.
I'm so happy for you. I know how it feels. My whole past year has been so weird, I can't even find the right words for it—a lot of life turbulence and distractions. ~ Thank you for all your kind words. Yes, I feel some peace. You know how it goes, the grief comes in waves. ❤️ I think people in the park are afraid when they see me because I'm hugging every dog. The love has to go somewhere.
Yay to a story break through! It’s been an interesting reading week. I read the Leather & Lark and Scythe & Sparrow by Brynne Weaver, they are the dark romance series. I’m not usually a dark/spicy/ romance book person, but this summer I’ve been enjoying it. This weekend will dedicated to King of Ashes by S.A. Cosby. And I have Laura Lippman and Rachel Howzell Hall’s newest books after that.
I am really fascinated by the dark romance trend. I mean… dark and dangerous partners seem antithetical to romance in general right? Or is the “bad boy” thing real?
This particular series both the male and female protagonists are dark.. It’s definitely different and I’m very sucked in.. Also I should have proof read my first comment 😳😳
HER FIRST MISTAKE by Kendra Elliott. This is a spin off of another series of the authors. All the series are in the law enforcement realm. This was a great first book in the new series! It delved into the main characters past and how she ended up where she is...and solved an old mystery from her past.
THE KNIGHT AND THE MOTH by Rachel Gillig. This book is very different, a little weird and a little slow to start, but stick with it. Wow...I just loved it! Thanks for the reccomendation.
SOUNDS LIKE LOVE by Ashley Poston. All of this authors books have a little bit of magic in them and this new one does as well. 2 strangers meet and can all of the sudden they can hear each other's thoughts. This was a great book!
Second wedding is in the books. It was lovely but a long day. We left our house at noon and didn't get back until after 8 pm. No more weddings until Aug.
On tap for this weekend, we're having a few couples over just for the heck of it. Plus they haven't seen our new kitchen that we renovated 2 years ago...so it was time for a get together.
We're supposed to have 3 days in a row here in Nebraska with temps over 100....going to try to stay cool!
I’m reading, Atmosphere, by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I’m blown away by it.
I have been saving it but it's happening soon. I can't wait!!!

I’m not sure. When I have a lot of time left I will think about it. I AM curious, so when it starts eating at me, I’m in for the ride.
My dad jumped right into book 2 and said it was worth it. They aren't simple reads and I like that. Makes me think.

Little Easter eggs… 😎
Grrrr.....Purrr....Grrrr.... - My panthering worked yesterday, so maybe there's something in this idea of stalking the story.
Matthew Goode is fabulous in everything he does. But I love him all dirtied up and tormented. Giving goode vibes...
Let us know about OUR LAST RESORT -- I have seen it everywhere and it looks super.
I read, The Quiet Tenant, by Michallon, and was impressed. I need to look at Our Last Resort.

Creepy is good yes???
Yes. Thriller creepy, not horror creepy ;)
I love love the purple island!! So much joy. Thanks for sharing it. It's been a long, extra hard week, so reading for me has been a minimum.
Sending lots of good vibes for an easier few days ahead, friend.
We love it too. I splurged and bought new kitchen towels to match (all my old ones were green.)
I’m so glad you’re back in the writing flow—yay! I’m reading The Hitchhikers by Chevy Stevens (an advanced copy). I think she’s a phenomenal writer.

Yes it does. Yes it does. 🩷

Love the purple island....it really pops!!
I love the whole idea of PANTHER...lol
I had a busy reading week....at least for me:

PS: I forgot to post a pic of the purple island...added above.
What a fun week you’ve had! I love all the reading — it just helps with everything doesn’t it?
Stay cool and have a lovely weekend!
