Aww, hope you feel better soon!💛 Curling up with Netflix and some yogurt sounds like the perfect remedy. I just started Parents Weekend by Alex Finlay—it's pulling me slowly in.
Sending healing hugs to all who need some! Got my new computer glasses and can already feel the tension in my neck and upper back easing. Also had my rheumatologist approve trying a different medicine to help with muscle aches and pains. Hoping it gives me a little relief so I can increase my activity levels and stamina.
My current guilty watching pleasure is Alan Cumming in The Traitors on Peacock. I started it after finishing watching Long Bright River which was as good as the book.
This week’s list:
The Fellowship of Puzzlemakers by Samuel Burr (charming, smart, funny)
Forget Me Not by Stacy Willingham (great unsettling creepy vibes)
A Guide to the Beasts of East Africa(Mr Malik #2) by Nicholas Drayson
The Queen of Poisons by Robert Thorogood
Why I Love Horror: Essays on Horror Literature Ed by Becky Siegel Spratford
We’re the cardiac crew today, aren’t we? I’m so glad you’re getting to try new meds. I hope they work and you’re feeling better soon!!! They’re making so many strides. And yay for new glasses!
I can’t wait for Stacy’s book - she’s an amazing writer. The rest look amazing too. Yay for librarian skills finding new cool books for us!
It’s been an interesting week for me. It started with a hard fall Monday afternoon, so super bruised and achy knees. 🤦♀️ so unfortunately I’ve read very little. But I’m starting Broken Country this weekend and then I’m going back to Walter Mosley’s Easy Rawlins series.
Oh no! I am so sorry. I hope it’s just bruised knees and ego and they heal quickly. Broken Country - that’s multiple votes this week. Will check it out.
My official diagnosis was knee strain. They told me as the urgent care that just means severely bruised. A kid at schoool took me out. 😂 it was kind of on purpose.. but that’s what happens in lifeskills.
What a fun list of reads Nicole. Love it. A little dark chocolate never hurt anyone, did it? I loved GOD OF THE WOODS but it took me a minute to get into it. But the halfway mark I was so invested I couldn’t put it down. And always a fan of Tess :)
Just got over that myself (I’m only a few miles south of the Tennessee line)! Oh! And frozen blueberries in plain, thick Greek yogurt (with a bit of honey and crumbled Alyssa oatmeal cookies) is my fav! The frozen fruit makes the yogurt so cold and yummy.
Today is the first day I’ve felt myself and am basking in the cool air the storms brought in yesterday from my back porch. The birds are singing and I have Gene Stratton-Porter’s “A Girl of the Limberlost” in my lap. All things are certainly lovely.
It’s going around, isn’t it? The doc said flu is over so most likely the dreaded C word. Glad you’re feeling better. Our backyard is alive today, the birds seem especially happy to see some sun. Have a good weekend!
The crud is never fun. Hope you turn the corner soon. I agree with rainy days - perfect opportunity to just lounge.
I finally read THE FAVORITES by Layne Fargo. It got buried in my Kindle and i just found it. I really enjoyed this book! My sister was a competitive singles ice skater for almost 10 years. This book is about an ice dancing team, but skating is skating....and things that happened in the skating world 40 years ago, still exist somewhat today. The judging being the main thing. So glad they changed the judging system in the early 2000s, but prejudice and favoritism will always exist.
I'm almost finished with SUMMER READING by Jenn McKinley. This is the 2nd book I've read by this author. I'm really enjoying this Rom-Com!

Yikes! I hate that for you. Hope a weekend of rest makes it feel much better. 😘
Hope you’re feeling better soon.
With the yoghurt and frozen berries I always add finely chopped dark chocolate, let it melt in my mouth.
I’ve read The God of the Woods by Liz Moore. It wasn’t what I expected, but I loved it.
Summer Guests, book 2 of the Martini Club by Tess Gerritsen. So much fun to read. And then the bonus story where Maggie meets Jack Reacher. Wow.
After that I didn’t know what to read and I just was scrolling through the Bookstore.
I found this wonderful book
The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox by Maggie O’Farrell. Amazing!! I’m going to read all of her books now. I was truly blown away.

Hope you feel better soon! If you are binging Netflix, check out The Life List if you have not seen it- great movie.
Putting it on the list-thank you!
Hope you feel better soon!

Get well soon, J.T. Despite feeling so crappy, I love that your delicious sense of humour still shines through
. I just finished another of Daniel Silva’s fab novels, Portrait of an Unknown Woman. Loved it! Healing hugs 🩶
There is nothing Daniel writers that I don’t love. Gabriel Allon is my fave!

I loved THE FAVORITES too. Layne is a great writer and it’s such a different story! And yay for rom-com recs. Adding…
And yes Happy Mother’s Day!
Take good care of yourself, and hydrate, hydrate.
Kristin Hannah’s THE FOUR WINDS has been in my TBR pile forever, and I finally dug in this week. Heartbreaking. 💔
Oh I haven’t read that yet… we must discuss more. And I am floating away on tea and electrolytes, promise!
