I love that you block off whole days for reading. I may be behind on the writing life norms as this is a novel idea to me—grazing only during the small window of my evenings or my chopped up Saturdays.
I will forthwith and forevermore be adding this to my schedule! Thanks for the tip.
So glad the Onyx Storm fans are enjoying the new book after the anticipation! Enjoy!
I finished a bunch of books this week including the incredible CABIN FEVER: THE HARROWING JOURNEY OF A CRUISE SHIP AT THE DAWN OF A PANDEMIC by Michael Smith and Jonathan Franklin. It was about a cruise ship that started its cruise at the very beginning of the pandemic and how no one wanted them to dock while they were running out of supplies and people were dying. Fascinating and heart breaking.
Here’s this week’s list:
At the Bottom of the Garden by Camilla Bruce
Brooke Shields is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as A Woman by Brooke Shields
Coup de Grâce by Sofia Ajram
Everybody Wants to Rule the World Except Me (Dark Lord Davi #2) by Django Wexler
Another fabulous list of books, Brandee! That pandemic book… did you ever follow any of the feeds of the people that wee locked on the ships? There was a man named David Abel who was live posting through the whole ordeal, down to the moment he and his wife were finally infected, and their whole journey through the Japanese system. Diamond Princess was the ship, I believe. Crazy stuff.
At the time, I could only handle so much pandemic news. I don’t know if I could have read this book any sooner. Weirdly, Havoc takes place during the pandemic, too.
This month has flown by for me, and yet while I was waiting for my copy of ONYX STORM, it dragged for about a week. I'm loving the book and trying to slow read. It helps that I'm also marking up another book to get more insight on interiority of the main character. I'm loving it and worried about this weekend as I only have three obligations with lots of down time. So, fingers crossed I won't devour it.
This past week I’ve read my book for the work book club. It was not my cup of tea at all but it was an okay read. Then I finally got to Eriq LaSalle’s 3rd book Laws of Annihilation. I really really like his books. It’s been the LONGEST short school week ever. So I haven’t started anything new yet. My next one will probably be Jackel by Erin Adams or maybe Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak.
I am doing the same thing with ONXY STORM....trying to read it slowly and savor it when I really want to speed read it. I'm about 30% into it and I'm just loving it.
I read TRACK HER DOWN by Melinda Leigh. This is book 9 in her Sherrif Bree Taggert series and I really like it...I love series!
Also read THE LOVE OF MY AFTERLIFE by Kristy Greenwood. New to me author. Main character dies and meets her soul mate in the waiting room of the afterlife...and what happens next? Great book and interesting concept.
We've had a bit of a cold snap here in Nebraska but it's supposed to start warming up today and we may hit the 50s next week. When I left for work Tues morning it was -11 and felt like -33!!!
I'm trying to slow read ONYX STORM too, and as a fast reader it's so hard to put a good book down. That being said, I'm proud of myself as I'm only about 1/4 of the way through it. Also, huge fan over here of Melinda Leigh. I love Sheriff Taggert.
Right now I'm in the middle of "The First and Last Deception: Aliens, UFOs, AI, and the Return of Eden's Demise" by Professor Daniel O'Connor. It's pretty heavy stuff, and Prof. O'Connor has lots and lots of citations, footnotes, and evidence to back up his thesis. I've always liked Science Fiction, but this book is helping me to see many of my favorites with new eyes.
My brother is an aerospace engineer at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH. My husband loves the show Ancient Aliens and apparently they say ALL alien aircraft, etc has been at Wright Patt for years now. My brother denies the existence of alien craft/artifacts but it makes you wonder? Lol

You're welcome! For those books that I know are an event, it seems the only proper way to do it.
I finished last night and I am sad. I want to rewind a week and start again!
The ache is real.

I’m sure we will have plenty more soon enough.

I think it's too late... once you're past halfway, it is absolutely COMPELLING and impossible to put down.
What a world she's created to make us fall in love so.

Is that the same Eriq LaSalle who was an actor?
We had a school shooting here, and it was heartbreaking. I always think about you and our fellow teachers and librarians when those happen.
It is the same guy. He was at Bouchercon in San Diego. Such a nice person. The kids deserve so much better. 😞
Agreed. All we had to do growing up was pretend that getting under our desks would shield us from a nuclear blast. This is so much more insidious.

I'm going to have to read this series now!
Savoring the dragons... I got a lot further in last night and wow, it's getting complicated.
I love a good series, too! Fun to read, even more fun to write : )

That sounds like a lot of fun - do you think we're going to hear what's going on at Area 51 soon?
