Thank you for reminding me about Patrick Bringley’s book! The Met is one of my favorite places — home to a significant event in my first novel, too — his perspective sounds so fascinating to me!
I'll continue to subscribe no matter what (even without a discount), but I clicked the button, and it didn't work for me. Maybe it just works for new subscribers. 🥰 Just wanted you to know. ~ All the Beauty in the World is on my list. The other day, I read an article about the author. Very intriguing.
OK Here’s what Substack says: For existing subscribers to take advantage of the discount, they would need to cancel their current subscription and resubscribe using the special offer link. However, this may disrupt their access to your content.
I had a quiet Thanksgiving with my best friend from college. We had Chinese food. LOL
Here is this week's list:
The Amalfi Curse by Sarah Penner (So good! Gorgeous cover! Author of The Lost Apothecary)
The Astrology House by Carinn Jade
The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones (Fascinating, historical book with horror elements.)
The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett (Quirky sci-fi/fantasy with a good sense of humor. First in a series. Another gorgeous cover.)
You’ve Got To Laugh by Allison Hammond (Delightful memoir from before she hosted Great British Bakeoff. Fun tidbits about the celebrities she has interviewed.)
Hi Brandee - happy Thanksgiving! Chinese food sounds delightful. One of the things I miss most. (Not GF). The Allison Hammond book is of particular interest; thank you for recommending that one! Great list as always!
The Sixth Floor Museum is a wonderful place to read all about JFK's presidency and life and see where they think Lee Harvey Oswald shot him. My family loved it, and I recommend it to all. In fact, tonight we're staying in the Dealey Plaza area for my oldest daughter's 22nd birthday. They have an Italian restaurant that does the whole cheese wheel experience that we're going to as well. So excited.
Congrats on your 5th Jayne novel!! What a wonderful year of books for you. I hope you get some rest and enjoy the last little bit of the year. Oh, I started my resolution early. This morning, I used half my walk to be present and not listen to all the digital noise available to me. It was nice.
That walking movement meditation is going to be a major component of your creative life going forward. Congrats on starting now. I agree resolutions don’t need a specific date.
And thank you! It’s fun to get another book baby out in the world.
I finished THE MIRROR by Nora Roberts. It was so good and I can't wait for book 3.
I also just finished VARIATION by Rebecca Yarros on our drive to Branson. This book was wonderful...I just loved it!
We're in full grandkid mode now, so no reading for a couple of days.
We were doing a 5K yesterday and our 5 year old granddaughter was done at 2 miles so we made multiple shortcuts to make back to the start/finish line. My stepson son and daughter in law had already finished as they ran it. We had fun but it was a little chilly.
We're planning on heading to Silver Dollar City this afternoon. We've been told they really decorate it for Christmas....really over the top!
I hope you love 11/22/63! It’s a great book and one of my favorites. I’m struggling to concentrate on reading these days. So I’m going to dig deep in my tbr mountain to find the Lisa Unger book I’ve been hoarding for years. I knew a time when come when I needed an old friend to rescue me and this is that time.
I've read King's 11/26/63 and enjoyed it immensely. I'm old enough to remember the Kennedy assassinations, as well as those of Malcom X and MLK. (we had riots where I lived then, when MLK was shot...). I won't spoil the book for you but would like to know what you think of it when you've read it. Some of what King writes seems to be prescient.

Why am I not surprised we have that in common???

Want me to do that for you?
Substack can be a little complicated. I will renew at the full price once my subscription expires. 🩷
I had the same problem as well. I don't want to disrupt my content either.
Awesome. Thank you!!!
I'm talking to a substack expert tonight to figure out a way to offer a re-up deal for y'all. Hang tight!
Oh no! I’ll write Substack and ask because it’s definitely supposed to help annuals reup.
Do you gave the link to the article?
Congratulations on the book release!

Alison just wrote her first rom-com called Bombshell, too!
Oh, now I am all in - you know where my heart is. Food and love.
The Sixth Floor Museum is amazing. I've been through it twice and I don't even live in TX.
On my list of things to do...one day!

I loved JAMES! ALL THE BEAUTY is on my TBR.
I can’t wait to read them both!

Since you loved VARIATION and you haven't steered me wrong, I'll pick it up. Have a great time with your grandkids and go you for the 5K!
It's a romance and Rebecca Yarros is really good at romance. A ballerina and a rescue swimmer are the main characters...
Sounds like a perfect holiday weekend! And congrats on getting back to such good health that a 5k is in the cards!!! Have fun with the grands!

Lisa is great for a slump. Amazing writer. Another vote for the King book— thank you. I can’t wait! Two more “work” books and I’m in.

Oh that’s wild someone else said to read it before the files are released. I know what’s next for me for sure.
Tumultuous times. We’ve made it through a lot haven’t we?
