I love that you love to read during ball games! Me too! My husband and I sit on the couch, he watches and I read (and semi-watch depending on who’s playing). Love “spending time” with him. 🤓
I’m reading Phantom of the Opera and just ordered your Tear Me Apart.
Recent reading: "We Used to Live Here" (Marcus Kliewer); "This is Why We Lied" (Karin Slaughter); "Celebrities for Jesus" (Katelyn Beaty); "The Haters" (Robyn Harding); and "One Perfect Couple" (Ruth Ware). I've just started "The God of the Woods" (Liz Moore), plus dipping into a handful of poetry books. I've been enjoying myself with all the books (though Karin Slaughter's are always painfully sad in some ways, so "enjoying" seems like the wrong word). "We Used to Live Here" was unputdownable, but I don't think I'm cut out for horror (I really want HEAs because regular life can be dark enough).
Just finished Kiersten White’s Lucy Undying which I loved. I also recently finished At the Coffee Shop of Curiosities by Heather Webber which was absolutely charming. One of the characters had a pair of gold fish named Mac and Cheese which made me laugh every time they were mentioned.
Here’s this week’s list.
The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden
The Chaos Machine: The Inside Story of How Social Media Rewired Our Minds and Our World by Max Fisher
Fatal Intrusion (Sanchez & Heron #1) by Jeffery Deaver and Isabella Maldonado
I finished FROM HERE TO THE GREAT UNKNOWN by Lisa Marie Presley. It was really interesting and I enjoyed it very much.
I read LETHAL GAME by Barbara Freethy. It's part of her FBI series and it may be the best one yet.
I'm about 70% into HEIR by Sabaa Tahir. I've read all of her books and this book takes you back to AN EMBER IN THE ASHES world. I really wanted to stay up all night and finish this one, but im back working in the office...so i had to go to sleep at a decent time. If you like fantasy, this book is for you!
We had a brief cold snap in southeast Nebraksa earlier this week, but it's warming back up. It's supposed to be almost 80 today. We're in desperate need for rain....so if anyone knows a rain dance...😀
I am DYING to get a chance to read HEIR, it's burning a hole in my Kindle. Sabaa is amazing, one of my all-time faves, and I love that she's gone back to this mystical world! No rain here, either. Boo hiss....
I absolutely LOVED The Book of Spirits!!! Holy crap that ending! 😳 I am extremely excited for the next book. At 3:15 pm I will be on fall break and I have never been more ready for a break. I’m not even upset that I won’t get paid for the week. I’m almost done with Play The Fool by Lina Chern. I have a couple of fantasy’s saved for break and then I’m going to dive into some darker stuff.
Yay fora bookish Fall break!!! We really need to do a better job of taking off time. Without kids we don't always have the impetus to take a vacation midcycle. Hope it's a lovely break!

OK Mac & Cheese is PERFECTION! People are so clever...
I would love to hear what you thinml abotu THE CHAOS MACHINE. I think I need a sabbatical for January...
The Chaos Machine is interesting, but it’s very dry reading. I can only read it in short chunks.
I loved Tear Me Apart!
Thanks, Barb! It was a deep one, for sure.
It was a wild ride!
I can't wait for the next Jayne Thorne book!

I truly believe HEIR is her best book yet, and it's a duology...so we have to wait for the second book.
Torturous.
