I'm also melting here in Florida and my cardinals, wild parrots and hummingbirds are jockeying for deep, deep shade that still registers at 90* in that same shade (but Alexa says it feels like 110*). I think my hot flashes are running cooler than that -
Been trying to read 'Il Mio Ricettario: Sapori, ricordi e tradizioni di famiglia' (Italian Edition), an Italian cookbook in preparation for my girls' trip to Italy and Sicily next month. I figured that food with my past restaurant experience would assist me in learning some basic language that will serve in getting us five ladies other options for consumption other than cannoli's and limoncello for 14 days, not that that would be the worse diet...
I'm late to the party, but I wanted to get on here and say I'm so sorry for your loss. Words are always inadequate in times like this, but I hope the days get brighter (the sun less intense), the joy gets longer, and that you are surrounded by those who love you most. Hang in there. From one fall girlie to another.
You had a hella week, my dear. A loss of a mentor is like losing a part of one’s soul. She helped you grow in ways you didn’t know were possible. What a gift. Del’s heavenly diadem is surely full of stars. 💜Yes! to a live write of your new novel. You are just the person to do this. 🥰
Hope you’re taking good care of yourself, especially knowing this month has been hectic in every way. I am so agree with you - about checking on our loved ones now and then. One wouldn't know what would happen next.
Sorry that I couldn't join you and JAK live (working), I will watch your chat later.
Thank you for the wonderful book recs. More books to add to my TBR!
Del sounds like a formidable woman, what an incredible mentor and testament to the influence of strong women in our lives.
And speaking of strong women, it was a joy to connect with you and Ashely this week!
I had a long drive down to Sheffield, Alabama for a library event last night and started listening to THE BONE THIEF by Vanessa Lillie--it is phenomenal and I keep thinking about it this morning instead of working on my own book!
It's been a wild week here. Starting to think the new moon affects people more than the full moon, since most patrons seem to have lost it this week. Teens screaming in the stairwell, other teens trying to record videos in the middle of an area where people are quietly trying to work, men walking around with their shoes in their hand. It's been a long week. LOL
I did just finish Death Meets Cute by J. Penner last night and have decided cozy fantasy is my palate cleanser. Humor, animals, baking, and fun characters are a good mix. I have loved all of J. Penner's Fellowship books as well.
I finished Incarnate by Alma Katsu as well. I don't think it's particularly scary like horror. There are some uncomfortable moments when physical changes happen to the MC, but it's a little like Pinocchio turning into a real boy, if that makes sense. I think it's a great discussion of influencers, social media, and technology, with a thoughtful afterword by Alma.
Here's this week's list:
The Calamities by Chuck Wendig
Carrie Carolyn Coco: My Friend, Her Murder, and an Obsession with the Unthinkable by Sarah Gerard
London Falling: A Mysterious Death in a Gilded City and a Family's Search for Truth by Patrick Radden Keefe
So sorry to hear of the loss of one of your mentors.
I finished ENTER THE NIGHTMARE by Jayne Ann Krentz. I plan on tuning into your call with her later today. She's hilarious and I've been reading her books since I was in high school!
I was lucky enough to receive a copy of YOU KNOW WHY. I started reading the hard copy and then I received the audio version...so I switched gears and started listening to it. This is my first audio book and I love it. I have 1 hour to go. I just got to an exciting part where many questions are answered. I can't wait to finish it!!

You have as well, BFF. Loss has hit us both hard this week. So grateful to have you to see me through!
💜🥰

Emily I am working on that. It’s astounding how much life asks of you sometimes.

Vanessa is an exceptionally talented writer. I’m not surprised it stayed with you.
So very sorry for your loss. *hugs*

Hi B - it does feel a little odd out there this week. I hope the weekend restores everyone’s good humors! And thank you for the hug. I needed it.
Great list — I am thrilled that Alma is okay for me, will add it in. And I am so curious to hear about London Falling. Let me know what you think!

Also, The Grand March scene was perfect!!!
Awwww yay!!!! It was truly an inspiration comment from you. I’m thrilled you’re enjoying the audio, too. They did a superb job I thought!
Jayen is the best. I am so lucky to be surrounded by all of these astounding writers. She never ceases to amaze me and our chat was so fun!
I finished the audio book yesterday....and wow...I thought i had everything figured out...but i guess not?!?
A good writer just keeps getting better...bravo!!
Oh yay!!!😁
I’m so sorry for your loss, J.T. Looking forward to reading You Know Why! I recently read Judas Kiss and loved it!
Thank you Barb. It was so shocking, and I just hate I didn’t get to say a proper goodbye.
