I’m slowly getting into Shield of Sparrows on my kindle and I’m going to do the crazy thing a start a second book in paperback. Either Judgement Prey by John Sandford or Don’t Say. Word by Allison Brennan.
Oh bummer on the knee! Lots of RICE - rest, ice, compression, elevation. We need that puppy better by school start!
I'm over it too. Every time a new tech comes along there is the same blow up, then eventually people decided for themselves and we're off to the next catastrophe.

AI is a tool and like many tools, some people will use it to cheat...sigh. I dont use AI a whole lot in my day to day life. My daughter in law uses it for all kinds of things....meal planning, trip planning, etc.

I started ENTER THE NIGHTMARE by Jayne Ann Krentz.
Then I received wonderful book mail...YOU KNOW WHY by you know who! I haven't read a physical book in years and my hubby asked why I have an actual book...lol

It cooled down a little here for a few days but its heating up again this weekend.. it is still July in the Midwest! At least its raining right now as we need rain.
Someone is always going to find a way to cheat. Isn't that sad? The fun of being a writer is the writing. But too many people will abuse the tools and then we'll have all the slop that's popping up. Hopefully it will lessen soon.

What a great assessment - 'I personally think the idea of people who suspect AI using AI to detect AI in order to deride said AI-derived work to be rather ironic, but hey, what can you do?'
I admit getting a bit of a laugh when I saw some very anti-AI people cheering the move. Honestly, it’s ubiquitous now. We can’t escape it. We just have to define our own moral codes within the new reality. Just like every technological advance that might—or might not—be good for the course of humanity.
I had actually submitted a story once to a very well-known magazine and they had asked if I had used AI and I had replied no. They then asked if spellcheck was utilized which I had said of course (because my fingers are usually highly caffeinated) and they said that that is AI and my article was rejected on that premise alone.
See, that's where the slippery slope starts. I'm sorry that happened to you. It's not exactly a fair application of AI usage, considering every program has it built in.
Here is my take on the subject. Life is full of encounters and experiences useful to every writer. The water and nutrients needed to make stories grow and thrive come from each writer’s perspective. These act as a writer’s assets. They come from human intelligence (HI).
With your background, the water and nutrients absolutely created your creative world. I agree. The human experience, the good, bad, ugly, is what makes us great writers. AI is programmed to feel. It never will have a soul, and that’s where great art comes from.
It's going to be a very strange situation. I think we have to turn it off every time we post. I'm not sure they thought this one through. I think their hearts were in the right place, for sure, but there really are legal implications that no one seems to have thought out.
