I hope you have a creative inspired and joy filled online sabbatical. I wanted to wish you a restful one, but I figured that was hoping for too much with everything you have on your plate right now.
I love THE PITT!!!! We are all caught up and awaiting the next season. We are serial bingers when it comes to shows we love.
My summers are usually less about writing and more about family. I'm hit and miss from June to August when it comes to word count and editing, but we are traveling stateside a bit this year. We're going to L.A. to see our oldest and then in July we will head to Wausau, Wisconsin to see my sisters-in-laws, who I adore. They're in their thirties, so much younger than me, and they let me hang with them. Treat me like I'm hip and cool. Also, I'm already suffering in the intense heat and sogginess of Texas weather. I'm definitely looking forward to cooler nights while on vacay.
I'm reading a book that came out a couple of years ago and somehow missed. It is about a woman on a plane who tells the other travelers their death dates along with the way they will die. That is the beginning of the story. Talk about hooking me right away. I'm a third of the way in and love it. It's called HERE ONE MOMENT by Liane Moriarity.
How did we miss a novel from the great Liane? I didn't see it either. Wild. She's such a powerhouse, I wonder if it just slipped past the radar?
I am even more determined to take the month off after seeing your comment. Without some external cues, like school being out or summer travel, I sometimes find it hard to take time off. But this year it has to happen. Though I'll be working behind the scenes, there will come a time when the sabbatical is a full one, with nothing but books, pool, and golf on the plate. Wouldn't that be remarkable???
Where should we go next for shows? Have you seen Friends and Neighbors? Shrinking? Off-Campus? Of course, the dragons are coming soon, which is must-see TV, but wondering where to binge next.
Hands down - Shrinking!! My husband started it without me, and I started watching it over his shoulder. Quirky characters-check. Real life issues-check. Heartwarming-check. However, a few trigger warnings-grief and aging from the parts I saw. There might be more. Another one we watched was Steve Carell's Rooster. If you're a Steve Carell fan, I recommend it. I don't think it's in the same category as The Pitt or Shrinking, but it was an on-brand Steve Carell series with cringey scenes and heartwarming ones too.
Yes, to travel and time off. All my author friends struggle with this, but I think it is essential to keep us from burn out. And it's important to enjoy the little things in life.
So glad you went back to THE Pitt. I binge watched the 2 seasons in 2 weekends! The hubby and I are currently watching Succession. We're a little late to the party with this one, but wow, I just love it! I guess its loosely based on Rupert Murdoch. We're about halfway season 3.
Reading:
I finished THE FINAL TARGET by Nora Roberts and it was excellent!
I just finished DOLLY ALL THE TIME by Annabel Monaghan this morning. Great book and i watched her interview yesterday on Friends & Fiction...which was very interesting.
We have a quiet weekend planned....no grandkids in town. We need to decompress after having anywhere from 2 to 4 grandkids at our house for a week!
This must be the first quiet weekend you have had in a long while! I hope it is lovely, and the goats are still behaving!
Succession is one of our favorites. The final season is jaw-droppingly great. I'm rather jealous of you seeing it for the first time. If you have other suggestions, I'm all ears.
I need to grab that Nora book, it does look superb. And thanks for the suggestion for Annabel! F&F always have the best people on.
The goats are good. Although they didn't like the carrots my husband gave them. Google lied! They do love the mulberries leaves that grow wild in our wind break.
Have you watched Big Little Lies on HBO? I haven't read the book, but its a star studded cast. I also just watched Sharp Objects. Its older and slightly creepy but Amy Adams is great. Also based on a book i haven't read...yet.
I can't remember how I discovered Annabel but I love her books. Romances that have REAL, interesting, somewhat flawed characters.
Enjoy your sabbatical!
This week’s list:
The Body by Bethany C. Morrow
Furious Violet by Sarai Walker
The October Film Haunt by Michael Wehunt
Strange Houses by Uketsu
True Crime Story by Joseph Knox
Thanks friend! Another wonderful list of cool, new to me books!

Have a great weekend and a wonderful month!
HERE ONE MOMENT was on Bookbub special earlier this week. It sounded interesting, so i bought it. Now I know i need to read it!
I’m reading it right now because we have ordered pizza for dinner, and I have a few minutes free. Let me know what you think about it.

I think Shrinking is funnier, but I do like Rooster. I might have to check out Succession on my own as my hubby’s already watched it I think.
Yes to Rooster. We started it and then waiting for new episodes to drop we moved to Succession. We need to get back to Rooster
Rooster is on the list. Great - thank you!
Enjoy your online sabbatical/unplug!
Pre-order is already done for WHISPER CREEK.

Both brilliant books and decent adaptations! Liane's got the sequel to Big Little Lies coming this fall. Can't wait!
Sharp Objects, like everything Gillian does, is incredible.
I have a volunteer mulberry tree growing in a pot out back. I will think of the goats when I see it now!
Have a wonderful quiet weekend!
I just started watching The Pitt too! I’m still on season 1. It’s like watching Carter from E.R. all grown up lol
Looking forward to Whistler. I love protagonists around my age!
It is nice to have a protagonist you identify with, isn't it? I'm looking forward to it, too.
The Pitt is perfection. When I learned about the IOs I about exploded. So cool!
