Yay for the productivity on the new book and confetti for Jayne!! A bit late to comment, but that was because I was in Waco Texas with my writing bestie. We visited Magnolia and then wrote our little hearts out. It was productive and fun. And the weather was fabulous for Texas this time of year. My creative well was blessed. That means reading was hardly a thing for me. Still reading CARELESS PEOPLE, and I'm enjoying it. JT--I think you'd love it and appreciate it more than me. The author shines a huge political spotlight on it as diplomatic relations was her job while at Facebook. You might cringe more than I have because I don't fully understand all the nuances of dealing with foreign governments, but it is fascinating for me anyway.
I have it right now and will start it next on your rec! I read the beginning and went wow - this is gonna be good. I’ve always wanted to go to Waco and Magnolia - sounds like a lot of fun!
I wanted to read all books by Maggie O’ Farrell, after finishing This Must Be the Place, brilliant again, I needed a break. After all the heartbreak I decided to read Yellowface. It made me feel so uncomfortable, but in a good way. Could not put it down.
I also had a cat that lived a very long life. I can't remember if it was 22 or 23 years as he passed a while ago. He was a very vocal, very large Maine Coon named Shadow.
I'm so pumped for ATMOSPHERE. I'm also pumped for The Black Dagger Brotherhood that premiers on Passionflix June 6th. I want to reread the first book before I watch it.
I'm also interested in watching The Better Sister. I haven't read the book....yet
I've heard about THE ATLAS SIX. I may just need to pull the trigger on that one.
We got to see our 2 youngest grandkids last weekend and we get to see them again the end of June. Can't wait!!
I do love me a Maine Coon… my girls have a teensy bit in them, mostly in the ears. Otherwise they continue to be the smallest cats I’ve ever had. Jameson had tufts on her ears. So precious.
Black Dagger Brotherhood - that’s based on the series by JR Ward, right? Should be amazing!!!
You will appreciate Atlas Six. It’s a very sophisticated philosophical fantasy that still has a younger vibe. I’ve never read anything like it.
I’m very nervous about BDB. After so many books for so many years, it’s very set in our minds. I worry that it could border on soap opera-ish and cheesy. A few of the actors I thought looked and sound great, but a few had me scratching my head. Hope it exceeds your expectations!
What I've seen on Facebook is that Passionflix stays true to the books in their adaptations. I follow JR Ward and she was very involved in the process. They just had a private premier and it sounds very promising. Fingers crossed.
I love that there’s a cat in Last Seen! I can’t wait for it to come out! I’m currently reading Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister and about to start Make A Scene by Jordan Rosenfeld to strengthen my scene building techniques. Julie Chan is Dead is on my TBR!
You’ll love Julie Chan is dead - it’s fun all the way around. Very much over the top which is the point. I’ll check out the Make a Scene book. I can always use some pointers!
I am SOOO excited for the release of Never Seen! All the people need to have it. It’s been my fav read of the year by far. It’s been a busy reading week. I’ve been off school for a week. I read The Never Game by Jeffery Deaver, Where The Line Bleeds by Jesmyn Ward, and the 3rd Finlay Donovan book. This next week is going to be excellent for reading I’m in FL staying with my cousins dog and chickens while he and his fam go to Disney.
We used to have chickens and you do need someone to look after them. They need food/water and if you let them out during the day, they need to go back in the coop at night...or you have no more chickens....lol
We tried letting ours out, but they half destroyed our landscaping and my hubby said no more. He bought a used dog run and he attached it to the chicken coop so they had space to roam but were confined.
I'm a stupid city girl while my husband was born and raised on a farm.

Mom just finished Julie Chan Is Dead and loved it! In These Hallowed Halls was a terrific anthology. Amazing group of authors!
This week’s list:
Drop Dead Sisters by Amelia Coombs
L.A. Coroner: Thomas Noguchi and Death in Hollywood by Anne Soon Choi
Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher
The Wishing Pool and Other Stories by Tananarive Due
Great list, Brandee. I have Nettle Bone but haven’t read it yet. And your mom has excellent taste!
Can’t wait to read LAST SEEN, it’s almost there♥️

Now ready to jump into The Atlas Six
My coworkers and I LOVED Yellowface!
Uncomfortable in a good way is exactly what we need from books. I felt the same way reading YELLOWFACE.
New book going really well...yay!
LAST SEEN coming out soon...double yay!

Yep BDB is JR Ward. I'm not one for in person events, but I've seen some clips on Facebook that she's done...hilarious!

Her Instagram videos meeting the actors were a lot of fun!
I saw her at a book festival in Bowling Green once. She came in dressed like a rock star with a massive entourage and signed books for hours.

THANK YOU!!!! 🙏 and great list of books this week! I love that you’re chicken sitting…

I'm a country girl but we never had chickens. Too many coyotes, wolves, owls, bears, foxes, and cougars....
I loved PARENTS WEEKEND. I think you will too
Awesome! Alex is a great writer, I know I”ll love it!
